Meta is now seen admitting to using content and public sharing on Facebook and Instagram in training their own artificial intelligence models, which now power Meta AI. This matter was shared by Meta through a question and answer session with the authorities in Australia.
Through the sharing of Meta's representatives, if users have not set a sharing as private since 2007, then Meta may use the shared text and images for the purpose of training their artificial intelligence models.
However, Meta's representative in Australia stated that they do not monitor any content shared by those under the age of 18.
For now, Meta only offers the option to exclude someone's content for training purposes only involving users in Europe, rather than globally. In addition to not using data for training, Meta also does not currently offer Meta AI for the European market.
