The Meta Orion AR glasses prototype may have caught the world's attention at Meta Connect due to its ability to be controlled with just a thought but there were a few more exciting announcements made such as the launch of the Meta Quest 3S. This is an augmented reality (AR) headset marketed as a more affordable model than the Meta Quest 3.
It is equipped with the same hardware but with screen technology with a resolution of 1832×1920 pixels on each point which is lower than the Quest 3 but better than the Quest 2. It is still powered by a Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chip, 8GB RAM memory, storage up to 256GB and a battery of 4,324 mAh. According to Meta this allows the Quest 3S to be used for 2.5 hours continuously.
The Meta Horizon OS operating system enables a variety of 3D and 2D virtual reality applications to be run by the Quest 3S. Control can be done through fingerprint tracking, two Touch Plus controls provided with every purchase or voice control through Meta AI support.
In the United States Meta Quest 3S can already be pre-ordered with a selling price starting at $299.99 (~RM 1239) for a complete set. In comparison Meta Quest 3 is sold at a starting price of $499 (~RM 2061).
