After Essential was shut down due to the failure of the PH.1, former employees of the company founded OSOM with a focus on producing devices that emphasize privacy. Now there are reports saying that the CEO of the company committed fraud to cover personal hobbies.
OSOM's former chief privacy officer, Mary Stone Ross, filed a lawsuit against OSOM and revealed CEO Jason Keats used company funds to support his racing hobby. Among the things he did was buy two Lamborghini cars, hire a driver and buy first class plane tickets to race all with company funds.
OSOM only managed to offer the OV1 smartphone in 2021 but sales were delayed to 2022. The device was not well received and was later relaunched as the Solana Saga to support the Solana blockchain. Keats then tried to sell the company to HP but it failed and then wanted to produce a camera with the power of artificial intelligence (AI). The company is currently facing financial problems.
