According to a Reuters report today, Qualcomm has begun inquiries to buy Intel's PC chip design business. If acquired, Qualcomm will increase the business portfolio with them this year aggressively marketing Snapdragon X chips for Windows PCs on ARM. The advantages of Qualcomm chips at this time are reduced power consumption, good battery life and better connectivity to cellular networks compared to X86 PCs.
In addition to looking at Intel's PC chip design business, Qualcomm is also making inquiries for several other businesses. Intel and Qualcomm declined to comment on this report.
