Processing chip manufacturing companies such as Intel, Samsung, TSMC and so on are now starting to expand their production wings to different countries to ensure that the supply of chips is always available.
Today, the Wall Street Journal has reported that two major technology companies, Samsung and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) are in talks with the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to open a semiconductor chip production plant in the country.
These two companies have been to the country recently to discuss the matter as one of the locations where they may be able to open a new factory. However, these two companies are still in the discussion phase with the UAE government, and so far, they may not even open a factory in the country.
Semiconductor chip manufacturing is difficult because of the need for a consistent supply of electricity and water, as well as the expertise and manpower to operate the highly complex electronic equipment.
TSMC has already started manufacturing the Apple A16 Bionic processing chip at their new plant in Arizona, and is developing a new plant in Europe. Samsung, on the other hand, is still looking for a location to develop a factory that will not only produce powerful processing chips, but also memory chips needed by various types of electronic devices.
