Last month, Google Duo completely changed to Google Meet. Google combines their casual video calling service with teleconferencing into one platform. Despite this, the Duo feature is still maintained and you can still use it as usual until recently Google announced that all Duo features will be discontinued and replaced by the Meet feature.
This change will happen gradually and will be affected when all users have used the brand new Google Meet by updating the application. Features such as Family mode, Moments, and Knock Knock are no longer supported as they have been replaced and added with;
Message during voice call.
Multiple effects and filters can be used simultaneously.
Cloud encryption.
Screen sharing.
On-the-go mode.
Add-On Support.
Tablet and large screen friendly interface.
Detect if hand raised.
Can join a call without a Google account.
Premium features of Google Meet.
All of these new features will be available if all users in a video call or teleconference session are using the latest version of Google Meet. Meanwhile if you use the latest Meet, then your friends use the updated Duo to Meet – limited use of the old features. Google has explained the difference between the Duo and Meet features, where it is clear that Google is serious about this new transition and wants Meet to be their main video calling feature and teleconferencing platform.
