Much has been said about the 18A process that Intel is pursuing for the production of their latest series of processing chips. Earlier this month, they confirmed that the Intel 20A process technology will no longer be developed,
Intel is also seen to have used the services of TSMC to build the Intel Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake processing chips that will be launched later while waiting for the 18A process to be ready for large-scale use next year.
Even so, Intel seems to have presented a surprise by introducing their upcoming Intel Xeon processing chip that comes with the code name Clearwater Forest which is their first chip built using the 18A (18 Angstrom, or 1.8nm) process.
So far there are no known details about this chip, but it seems that the process technology has already been activated for preliminary testing, and this is the first processing chip to be released.
Shown at the Intel Enterprise Tech Tour event in Portland, Oregon, the Xeon Clearwater Forest processing chip will only be introduced next year, and is the first processing chip to be built using the 18A process. Other chips such as Panther Lake, Nova Lake and so on are also seen to be manufactured using this process, but further details about these processing chips have also not been confirmed yet.
