A few weeks ago, we reported that AMD is expected to show off the processing chip offering for their latest mobile PC console, the AMD Ryzen Z2 early next year, possibly as early as the CES 2025 event in Las Vegas in early January 2025.
Recently, it seems that a number of details regarding this series of processing chips have been leaked to the internet arena. Golden Pig Upgrade on Bilibili says that for this series of processing chips, it will come with three different models, compared to only two shown on the Ryzen Z1 series.
This includes the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme, AMD Ryzen Z2 and AMD Ryzen Z2G which is the latest third model that will apparently power mobile consoles that don't require such high performance.
For AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme, this leaked information shows that it will use a variant of the AMD Strix Point processing chip that uses the latest Zen 5 processor and comes with 12 Compute Unit cores for graphics components that take advantage of RDNA 3.5 technology.
AMD Ryzen Z2 will come with 12 CU cores as well, but use the AMD Hawk Point processing chip which is more efficient in power consumption and uses the RDNA 3 graphics chip. It is expected that the Ryzen Z2 chip will come with the same processing power as the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme but with lower power consumption.
As for the AMD Ryzen Z2G, it is seen that it will combine the AMD Zen 2 processing chip and also the same graphics processing used on the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processing chip. However, it is expected that this processing chip will only be used to power portable PC game consoles with more affordable prices and lower memory and storage capabilities.
So far, AMD still hasn't said anything about the announcement of this processing chip, but as said, the high probability is that it will be shown in January 2025 at the CES 2025 event.
