Apple Maps Starts Shooting Photos Using Backpacks In Malaysia Today

In 2019, Apple introduced the Look Around feature on their Apple Maps app, which provides a 360-degree panoramic view complete with dynamic details about local locations.

At the beginning of this year, Apple has already started mapping a large number of locations in Malaysia using cars. Starting today until the end of December, Apple will start filming Look Around using individuals who will carry bags equipped with camera systems. Backpacks are used to map locations that cannot be accessed by car.

According to the Apple Maps website, they will begin the update process of recording photos starting today in five states first, namely Selangor, WP Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Johor and Penang.

Apple also once again ensured that they will edit the photos taken to not show the identity of the people and also the vehicle registration number that may be contained when the Look Around feature is updated.
