BioNTech That Developed Pfizer's Covid Vaccine Is Now Creating an AI Lab Assistant

BioNTech is the company that developed the Covid-19 vaccine for Pfizer using mRNA technology. The same company has now developed artificial intelligence (AI) lab assistants through their subsidiary InstaDeep. This lab assistant, named Laila, can help researchers plan experiments and better predict their results.

Laila was developed using the Llama 3.1 model by Meta with which it can control various laboratory devices, and monitor experiments or tasks being carried out by robots. It can detect any problems with radar and laboratory equipment in real time.

With these tasks taken over by AI virtual assistants, scientists and lab technicians can better use their time doing more important things. According to the representative of InstaDeep this will further increase the productivity of a laboratory.

In addition, InstaDeep also announced an AI model developed specifically to identify and find new targets to deal with cancer. As we previously reported, BioNTech is currently developing several vaccine candidates against cancer also using mRNA technology.

In the same development, BioNTech and Google Deepmind also announced a collaboration to develop AI laboratory assistants together to plan experiments and process study data faster.
