Budget 2025: Consumer Credit Bill To Be Presented For BNPL Regulation

The consumer credit law (Consumer Credit Bill) will be presented at the next Dewan Rakyat session. It aims to regulate online activities particularly involving businesses that deal with financial intermediaries. Next ensure better financial stability and growth. The matter was announced in the presentation of the 2025 budget just now.

Apart from that, a Consumer Credit Monitoring Board will also be established to regulate and supervise non-bank credit providers. This includes the Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) service in ensuring that they carry out their responsibilities as responsible parties for the good of consumers.
