Budget 2025 : Minimum Wage Rate Raised to RM1,700 Effective February 1, 2025

In Budget 2025 today, the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance announced that the government has agreed to increase the existing minimum wage rate of RM1,500 per month, to RM1,700 per month. This change will take effect on February 1, 2025.

For the initial phase, the deferment will be granted to employers with less than five employees, for a period of 6 months, and will come into effect on August 1, 2025.

The government states that economic restructuring is only successful when the people receive meaningful salaries and wages to lead a more comfortable life.
