Budget 2025: Tax Cuts Will Be Introduced For The Cultivation Of Flexible Work Arrangements



One aspect of work that is highly emphasized by modern workers is the culture of work-life balance or balanced work and life, which consists of allowing workers to take advantage of flexible working arrangements or Flexible Working Arrangements (FWA).


Although this FWA structure was introduced from 1 January 2014 to 31 December 2016 and 1 July 2020 to 31 December 2022 by Talent Corporation Malaysia, Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that a new update will be introduced from 1 January 2025 until 31 December 2027.



To help workers in Malaysia to cultivate this work-life balance, Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that the government will propose to introduce a 50 percent tax deduction for companies on the cost of capacity development and software procurement incurred by employers in implementing work arrangements. flexible like working from home.


Not only that, a 50 percent tax deduction will also be proposed for the provision of additional paid care leave facilities by employers of up to 12 months to employees who take care of children and also family members who are sick or need care.


Talent Corporation Malaysia's proposal is for the cost of expenses and capacity building for this FWA work arrangement to be limited to RM500 thousand on a one-off or one-time basis and will be confirmed by Talent Corporation Malaysia when they receive the application later.
