OpenAI is now sharing their self-generated artificial intelligence service, ChatGPT is used by over 250 million active users on a weekly basis. The vast majority are seen using the ChatGPT service for free.
However, OpenAI does not share the current numbers of users using ChatGPT's paid service. For information, the ChatGPT Plus service is offered at a subscription price of $20 per month, and is also offered for enterprise users. According to the data shared by OpenAI as well, of the total number of paid customers, 75% are from consumers, and only 25% from enterprises.
With various parties competing in the artificial intelligence arena, it may become quite difficult to get paid users for their respective services. Microsoft itself offers access to CoPilot for free, in addition to Google offering access to Gemini.
In addition to competing for paying customers, all companies and firms focusing on artificial intelligence also compete with each other in introducing the latest models with higher capabilities. This at once leads to difficulties in generating income for the company, especially OpenAI which focuses on fully supporting artificial intelligence, and does not have other businesses to cover such as Google or Microsoft.
