Sideloading is a popular method of manually installing apps on Android devices. It uses APK files and sideloading installation becomes more and more annoying as many cases of fraud occur. The app's sideloading barrier is currently still limited to certain countries such as Singapore. Recently, Google India introduced the same for Android users in India.
This barrier is done through a security scan by Google Play Protect. Google uses a stricter and smarter security model. This is in contrast to Auto Blocker by Samsung which continuously detects the source of applications that are feared to be dangerous. Google's new system does not directly block sideloading of APKs, but it scans and ensures that applications do not request permission to access sensitive data such as accessing notifications, SMS access, screen content access and so on.
The Android system will also issue a message telling the user why the application they want to install is blocked. Unlike now which, despite already receiving a warning – users can skip to install. In my opinion, if there are still many people who do not understand the risk of sideloading APK - this feature should be prevented so that the cases of savings being emptied in their respective bank accounts will no longer happen. How about you?
