Night Sight is a night mode photo-taking feature exclusive to Google Pixel devices. It was first introduced in the Pixel 3 series and remains offered until today in the Pixel 9 series. This mode uses machine learning and its own algorithm to ensure that the image results are bright, clear and details are preserved without the use of flash. Most recently, Google activated this feature directly from within the Instagram application.
Through the Android 15 update that has been distributed to Pixel users since the evening of October 15, all users of Pixel 6 and above can take advantage of this feature. No settings need to be done, just open the Instagram app, press the "+" icon and select Story. If the atmosphere is dark, Instagram will continue to display the crescent moon icon next to the flash icon.
Like Night Sight, after the shutter button is pressed - the image will be processed in a few seconds with the user's hand required to remain steady for the previously dark image to be processed into a brighter one that is pleasing to the eye. This update is part of the Pixel Feature Drop and the feature is named as Night Sight for Instagram.
