AI Overviews is undeniably very helpful in doing web searches. The problem is the hallucinations that sometimes cause this summary of search results to be confusing. Even so, I realize AI Overviews have gotten better and better and Google has returned to offering them to users. Recently, Google announced that AI Overviews will soon start displaying ads.
If you're worried about getting confused between search results and ads, Google explains that any ad will have a label. These ads will also appear in Google Lens. Google is also aware that ads often annoy users, therefore search results will be displayed first before ads and there will be a line separating these two contents.
In Google Lens, Google integrated a feature like Circle to Search where the search will now display the results of the e-commerce site where the scanned object can be purchased. The link of this e-commerce site is the one advertised for users to continue buying after scanning. Display of ads on AI Overviews is limited in the United States, while ads on Google Lens are starting to be offered on iOS and Android for users in certain countries.
