Google TV Starts Supporting Home Panel To Control Internet of Things Devices With TV

Samsung and LG have long supported Internet of Things device control features under the same ecosystem directly through their respective televisions. This feature is also popular with television manufacturers from China. Most recently, native support for controlling internet of things devices under Google Home has been given to Google TV.

It was first introduced through Google TV Streamer. This feature known as Home Panel is starting to be distributed to other Google TV devices. Home panel is a special Google Home panel for televisions to make it easier for users to control internet devices such as fans, lights, curtains, speakers and more directly through the TV either with instructions to Google Assistant or with a remote control.

So far, TCL televisions and Xiaomi TV boxes are among those that have been confirmed to receive this update. According to sources, this feature should be supported on most Google TVs by simply checking for Google app updates on the Play Store.
