HMD has lately been active again in the Malaysian market. The majority of HMD devices in Malaysia are distributed by Zitron which is the same distributor as Nothing. Recently, HMD Fusion has been offered for the local market which is another phone with a modular design.
HMD Fusion can be seen as a competitor to CMF Phone 1. This is because HMD Fusion is a device designed to be easily repaired by just removing a few screws. Then, this device also supports various accessories through a special pin connection. The device is sold at a price of RM1,199 with a Gaming Outfit to transform the device into a portable console provided.
So far, other accessories offered are based on a protective frame such as the Flashy Outfit, which is a frame with a smart LED flash or the Wireless Charging Outfit that activates the wireless charging feature. The Rugged Outfit will also be offered as a durable protective frame with IP68 protection as well as some physical buttons for emergencies.
HMD Fusion comes with a 6.56-inch 90Hz HD+ LCD screen, powered by a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chip paired with 6GB of RAM memory, and 128GB of internal storage. For the rear camera, a 108+2 Megapixel sensor is included, while the front camera receives a 50 Megapixel sensor. The modular frameless device supports IP54 protection and the OZO speaker system. As for the battery, it has a capacity of 5000mAh with 33W charging and runs Android 14 with 2-year update support.
HMD Malaysia offers a two-year supplier warranty for every purchase in Malaysia. At the moment it is still not clear where to get a set of spare parts for the device with this second generation easy-to-repair design. In America, repair kits are sold through iFixit.
