India is expected to limit the import of tablets, and computers in an effort to increase domestic production

India will reportedly make changes to how device imports are allowed - including limiting the number of laptops, tablets and desktops allowed into the country, starting in January. By limiting imports, India aims to contribute to increasing domestic production in the country.

The Government of India is expected to start the engagement session as early as next week, and may implement this step in early 2025.

Today, about two-thirds of laptop demand in India is met through imports, and popular brands in the country include HP, Dell, Apple, Lenovo and Samsung. With this development, perhaps we will see India announce various criteria and limits for the import of computers and tablets into the country in the near future.
