Temu is still not operating in Indonesia at the moment, but the application has started to be shown on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. Parallel to the matter, now the Indonesian government is looking to ban the service and remove the application for the country's users.
Indonesia says Temu is economically and socially disruptive - and because of that, no opportunity will be given for the service. Temu has previously tried several times to register operations in Indonesia, but was not allowed.
Indonesia wants their digital space to be filled with things that help society to be more productive and generate profit.
Temu today operates in a number of countries, including Malaysia. For information, before Indonesia also banned TikTok Shop - after which TikTok Shop took steps to get a hold on Tokopedia to continue operations in the country.
