The last quarter of the local automotive industry seems to be picking up steam with various new vehicle introductions, and not just passenger vehicles. Today JAC Motors has launched the JAC T9 four-wheel drive electric pickup which will be sold under the price of RM 200,000 for the first 100 orders and is now open for booking.
This 4-wheel drive electric pickup has two electric motors at the front and rear, with the front motor able to provide 70 Nm of torque and the rear motor providing 150 Nm of power. The combination of these two motors provides the highest torque of 516 Nm allowing acceleration from 0-100km/h as fast as 8.4 seconds with a top speed of 140 km/h.
It has a battery of 88 kWh with a travel distance of 340 km WLTP and AC charging of 11 kW which allows charging 15%-100% in around 6 hours 50 minutes, that is fast charging DC 88kW allows charging 30-80% as fast as 35 minutes.
As an electric pickup, the JAC T9 EV also has various safety and comfort features for passengers, including a translucent roof, blind spot detection, digital driving display, inforia system with a 10.4-inch display that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cooling ducts air for rear passengers and more. This electric truck is also equipped with level 2 self-driving functions such as automatic emergency braking, Lane Keeping Assist, Intelligent Cruise Assist, and others.
For now the price of the JAC T9 EV electric pickup has not been announced, but JAC has started to open reservations for it and also stated that this pickup will be sold below the price of RM 200,000 for the first 100 buyers before the end of this year. This electric pickup will also be offered with a warranty for 6 years or a mileage of 200,000KM. JAC Motors also stated that the T9 PHEV version will be offered as early as the second quarter of 2025.
