As we reported last week, HBO Go will be replaced by the Max service in Malaysia before the end of 2024. The announcement was made by representatives of Warne Bros. Discovery after Max was launched in Japan. This week the Max Malaysia website link became active and only displayed the text "Coming Soon" which gave the clearest indication that the launch was approaching.
Among the advantages of Max compared to HBO Go is the support of 4K resolution and more content because it also includes content from the Discovery channel. HBO Go is the only streaming service from the west that still only offers content at a maximum resolution of 1080p. Max launched in 2020 as HBO Max before its name was changed to Max after Warner Bros. and Discovery merged.
