The Minister of Communications now shares the hope that internet service providers will offer cheaper packages with higher speeds. This was shared by Fahmi Fadzil, the Minister of Communications at the launch of a special package for the Malaysian Armed Forces, offering a 100Mbps internet package at a price of RM49 per month.
With the special offer, the ministry also hopes that this package at a low price is not excluded for a target group only, but is offered more widely. According to the ministry's observations, it is targeted at service providers able to offer packages as low as RM39 per month for 100Mbps speed.
Today, Telekom Malaysia through Unifi offers a package at a price of RM89 per month for 100Mbps. while Time offers a package at a price of RM99 per month for 200Mbps. Some other special packages are also available, allowing people to get packages for as low as RM69 for 100Mbps by some service providers.
