Motorola Showcases Concept Products That Make Physical AI Devices Irrelevant

Physical AI devices are becoming increasingly irrelevant, even though the concept is still in its infancy. This is because the generative AI feature with processing from within the device proves that a special device for AI is not needed. Most recently, Motorola has come up with a concept that continues to make physical AI devices no longer relevant.

Humane A.I. Pin and Rabbit R1 so far have not attracted much attention. These two devices only offer empty promises compared to the futuristic usage concepts they promise. During the Lenovo Tech World '24 event, the same AI Large Action Model or LAM on the Rabbit R1 was shown to be usable on the Razr and Razr+. With LAM, the AI in the phone will become a real digital personal assistant as the user can use the device without touching and only with voice commands.

In the demo that Motorola showed, users used voice commands to order an Americano iced drink through the popular coffee franchise's app. All actions from choosing drinks, finding the nearest location and making payments will be done by AI. The user will then receive AI feedback that the booking is ready to be taken within a certain period. Ordering food or rides through apps like Uber is also supported.

For now, the LAM in the Motorola Razr and Razr+ is just a concept and it has not been announced whether it will become a reality or not. It's just that Motorola's demonstration proves that physical AI devices are irrelevant. If A.I Pin and Rabbit R1 are no longer welcome, will OpenAI devices designed by Jony Ive become irrelevant? Let's wait together.
