Collaboration between two semiconductor chip design companies, NVIDIA and MediaTek is not something new. A few years ago, they showed a demo of the combined graphics processing technology between the two companies, and recently, the NVIDIA G-SYNC Pulsar display technology was also introduced to facilitate the use of G-SYNC technology at a more affordable cost.
Recently, these two companies have shown a new collaboration to develop an AI processing chip using the 3nm process for AI laptops. Yes, these two companies seem to be joining forces to enter the AI laptop market for Arm which is currently dominated by Qualcomm through the newly launched Qualcomm Snapdragon X processing chip.
MediaTek is seen to be able to offer expertise in processing common computer tasks, while NVIDIA is seen to be able to solve problems related to graphics processing to enable this laptop to run computer games and also various other graphics power requirements.
In fact, this processing chip will reportedly move to the "tape out" phase or the final design phase before this design is sent to a company like TSMC to be manufactured. This processing chip is expected to be introduced around next year, with companies such as ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo seen to be some of the customers for this processing chip.
