OpenAI Reportedly Teaming Up With Broadcom And TSMC For AI Chips

OpenAI, the company behind the generated artificial intelligence service, ChatGPT, is now reportedly collaborating with Broadcom and TSMC in developing its own chip with a focus on artificial intelligence systems. With this move, OpenAI will have an alternative to chip access, instead of having to rely on NVIDIA alone.

With the development of the artificial intelligence arena, the main focus is also the development of infrastructure and chips to support it. By developing in-house, it is expected to reduce costs, as well as lead to more savings and control when developing and introducing new features.

Today, OpenAI relies on NVIDIA's offerings to provide offerings, as well as to train their own artificial intelligence models. According to the same report, OpenAI is ready to obtain a number of dedicated workforce for the development of this chip, in addition to targeting production using TSMC by 2026.

In addition to developing its own chips, OpenAI also reportedly plans to use AMD chips in their artificial intelligence model development operations.
