However, as the number of transactions in Tiktok Shop increases, the risk of fraud is also seen to be getting worse. Various modus operandi are used by the groups involved to make money from the victims until they are empty.

Notifying the matter, Tiktok said it is focused on creating a safe community for a reliable shopping experience. Proactive measures taken include investing more than $500 million in various processes, including new tools and technology to create a safe and comfortable shopping environment for consumers. In the meantime still maintaining the various forms of policy introduced before to buyers, sellers, creators and products to protect the TikTok Shop market.

This situation includes requiring all sellers to provide official documents to confirm the authenticity and accuracy of their personal information in conducting business. In addition, new sellers will also go through a temporary trial period that can be used to evaluate the suitability of the goods sold in the platform. As a result, around 2 million account registrations were rejected by Tiktok because they were considered weak or did not meet security standards. In addition, Tiktok also rejected more than 20 million product registrations before going live on the grounds that they did not meet the requirements as set by the platform's requirements.

Tiktok also revealed that more than 2 million seller accounts have been frozen/closed because they have violated one of the set guidelines. This offense may advertise prohibited items to abuse the Tiktok Shop platform. In addition, there are also certain specific features that have been removed from over 500,000 content creators due to non-compliance with community guidelines or terms of service.

Also touched upon in this study is that over 4,000 stores have been permanently closed and revoked the sales authorization of over 30,000 content creators due to Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) violations. This offense usually occurs when a person commits actions such as copying, using or selling a copyrighted work without a license from the original owner. Not only that, but almost 300,000 live streams were also censored due to concerns about IPR violations. In addition more than 5,000,000 products have been prevented from going live.

As a result of this and other policies, TikTok Shop has seen a 17% decrease in negative reviews on average across markets. At the same time continue to update and revise the existing user guide from time to time to keep it relevant, also as part of their commitment to provide transparency.
