Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are the new trend for wearables this year. It is loaded with Meta AI with WhatsApp integration capabilities, smart search using AI, headphone set and more. Although it is not sold in Malaysia, it is quite popular. Recently, Meta has confirmed what they did with the pictures taken with these smart glasses.
According to Meta, if the user just uses the camera to take pictures or record videos – all the data will not be used for other purposes. Meta is serious about protecting user privacy and security. However, Meta AI's usage policy is different because all images scanned for analysis by Meta AI can be used by Meta to train their AI models if needed.
This is in contrast to Facebook which allows users to request content shared on Facebook is not used for AI models as Ray-Ban Meta does not offer it. The way to not let Meta use your images is to not use Meta AI at all or to not use these glasses at all. If Ray-Ban Meta was sold in Malaysia, would you use it?
