A few months ago, Proton, the national automotive brand, showed off their first electric car, the Proton e.MAS 7 which will be launched in December this year.
This Proton e.MAS7 is the first unit that uses the Global Modular Architecture (GMA) framework for the first phase developed through the collaboration of Proton and Geely, and also uses Aegis Short Blade Battery technology that has more energy density, and has a durability of up to 3500 cycles . The electric motor only weighs 82.5kg with an energy efficiency of 90.04%.
Proton e.MAS7 is a model based on Geely Galaxy E5 which is in the compact SUV class. It is equipped with a 160 kW electric motor with a power of 218 PS that can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 6.8 seconds with a maximum speed of 175 kmh. The two battery options offered are 49.52 kW and 60.22kW providing a travel distance of 440 km and 530 km according to CLTC standards.
The Proton e.MAS 7 car is currently touring throughout Malaysia where the public can see this car for themselves. Today, Edaran Otomotif Nasional (EON), the official distributor of Proton-branded cars, has announced that people can start booking electric vehicles through their website with a deposit of RM500.
As of now, the price tag for this car has not been revealed yet, but as we said before, it will be launched this December 2024.
