At the Snapdragon Summit this morning, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon shared his thoughts on the future of artificial intelligence (AI). According to Amon it is not in the form of applications that people need but instead lies in the interaction of users with AI.
He sees user interaction with banking applications for example being done entirely by voice. The device's virtual assistant can notify the user of the last three transactions or provide recommendations on whether the user has successfully met the savings target that has been set.
Because AI runs directly in the device, it also understands context. When looking at a picture of a product on an e-commerce site, for example, users can ask if there is enough money to buy it.
Through multi-modal AI that understands images, the user only needs to use the camera to take a picture of the electricity bill and then direct the AI to make the payment on the user's behalf automatically. At this point Amon's vision is still not a reality but it is a more useful use of AI than is currently possible,
