Chips released by Qualcomm will now support more artificial intelligence (AI) models developed by Mistral AI. Through the agreement announced today, the new Ministral 3B and Ministral 8B models will be optimized to run on Snapdragon 8 Elite, Snapdragon Cockpit Elite, Snapdragon Ride Elite, and Snapdragon X Series chips.
The Mistral 3B is the first model from the Mistral AI designed to run directly from a device. All models from Minstral AI will be accessible through the Qualcomm AI Hub. This will add a choice of AI models that developers can apply to their developed applications. Previously, the Mistral 7B v0.3 model had been offered through the Qualcomm AI Hub.
Since jumping into the AI arena running directly from the device last year, Qualcomm has doubled the NPU capabilities on all SOCs they offer to the market. The use of a built-in model on the device will reduce data requirements, ensure data security as it does not need to be sent to the cloud and most importantly provide faster answers.
