Snapdragon Cockpit Elite and Snapdragon Ride Elite Announced For Smart Vehicles

This morning the Snapdragon Cockpit Elite and Snapdragon Ride Elite chips were announced for use in current smart vehicles. Like the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the Snapdragon Cockpit Elite and Snapdragon Ride are also equipped with second-generation Oryon CPUs. With the launch of these two chips, Qualcomm also dominates the automotive market through their Snapdragon Digital Chassis platform.

Cockpit Elite and Ride Elite were developed to meet the needs of today's vehicles that require not only smart entertainment systems but multiple built-in sensors for in-cabin system control and multiple sensors and cameras for the vehicle's ADAS system.

The Oryon CPU for example provides up to 3X performance improvement compared to previous CPUs. It is again matched with an Ardeno GPU that provides up to 3X graphics improvement and the NPU provides up to 12X improvement compared to the previous chip. In total Cockpit Elite can support up to 16 high resolution displays in the vehicle cockpit.

Ride Elite functions as the brain of the vehicle's ADAS system because it can support up to 40 sensors used by a vehicle. This includes 20 high-resolution cameras outside and inside the cockpit to provide a 360-degree view.

Customers using this chip combination can also access the Qualcomm AI Hub to use various AI models on the market. At the same time, customers can also use their own data to train their own models.

Both the Snapdragon Cockpit Elite and Ride Elite will be offered to customers from 2025. Among the customers who will use this latest chip are Mercedes Benz and Li Auto.
