Sony And Honda Will Use AI To Improve Self-driving Electric Car Capabilities



Sony and Honda are ready to form a joint venture company, and are developing their own electric car, under the Afeela brand. The first electric car is expected to be offered in Japan as early as 2026, which is about two years away.



Through the electric vehicle, it is expected to provide a good vehicle experience through the integration of various technologies and Sony advantages. Not only that, now it is also shared that Sony and Honda will use artificial intelligence to improve the self-driving capabilities of their electric vehicles.


At the time of introduction, the car is expected to offer level 3 self-driving, but the operating system will continue to use artificial intelligence to improve self-driving functions, and offer updates once or twice a year.



It is said that today self-driving systems use sensors and cameras to identify objects, as well as control driving. However, with the integration of artificial intelligence, it will improve and accelerate improvements, through continuous learning from user driving data.


In addition to Sony and Honda, BYD is also collaborating with Huawei for more or less the same offering, and is expected to introduce it at the end of this year.
