WordPad was introduced in Windows 95 and has been in the Windows operating system until Windows 11. In 2020, Microsoft began to allow users to uninstall WordPad and in September of 2023 it was heard that the application would be removed. In Windows Insider last January, WordPad was no longer visible. For all users, WordPad will be completely deprecated via the Windows 11 24H2 update that arrived today.
In other words, after you update your PC or laptop to Windows 11 24H2, the WordPad application can no longer be used. Say goodbye to .RTF files. Now, Microsoft asks users to use Microsoft Word or Notepad to continue accessing text documents. These two applications are frequently updated and are more suitable for use in the modern era. Word now has an Ai integration that is Copilot, while Notepad already supports tabs.
