Uber, one of the leading companies in the ride-hailing arena, and also has a stake in Grab, is now seen wanting to take over Expedia, as well as strengthen their position in various matters involving transportation.
Expedia is an aggregator site that brings together various things involving price comparisons of hotels, flights and so on. It is said to be worth around $20 billion, and may be Uber's biggest takeover to date.
It is said that Uber has started to get feedback on the idea of taking over Expedia, but has not yet held direct discussions with Expedia for the time being. For information, Uber's current CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi, was on duty as Expedia's CEO between 2005 and 2017.
Uber and Expedia have not issued any comments regarding this matter for the time being.
