VTOL Drone With The Ability To Carry 2 Tons Of Cargo Shown

United Aircraft Group (UAG) an aerospace company from China has shown off their Lanying R6000 drone. It is the first drone in the world with an inclined propeller configuration to provide VTOL capabilities and carry cargo up to 2 Tons with the option of a waterbang.

This drone can also carry up to 10 passengers, fly at a speed of 550 km/h and an operating distance of up to 4000 kilometers. In terms of design, this drone is similar to the Bell V-280 Valor VTOL aircraft, only with waterbang capabilities.

A fan with three blades is placed on a pod at the end of the wing. It can be rotated upwards to fly or land vertically before being turned back forward to fly like a conventional aircraft.

UAG has not yet given full specifications on the engine power and target when the Lanying R6000 will start operating. It will only be revealed when the aircraft is officially launched during the AirShow China held in Zhuhai next November.

Based on the mockup image shared by UAG, this drone is targeting use in the civilian sector without a variant for military purposes. In the United States, the ARES drone has just successfully performed a VTOL flight test but it is for military use and carries a cargo of up to 1360 kilograms only.
