Installing Windows operating system updates on a PC or laptop is very annoying. This is because the application installation process takes a long time, device performance becomes inconsistent for a while and most importantly wastes the user's time. It differs from the update system on Apple devices. Recently, Microsoft announced that their update process is also now faster.
In the first tests performed, frequently updated Windows devices were able to install new updates 45.6% faster and device restart times were 39.7% faster. Then when updating the CPU usage became 15.3% lower. For Windows devices that have not been updated for 18 months, updates can be installed 43.6% faster. Then device restart time is 33.5% faster with 25% less CPU power consumption.
This new, faster update process can be felt through Windows 11 22H2 to 24H2. It should also be noted that this Microsoft test is based on a virtual machine with 16GB of RAM memory. So the installation process still depends on the device specifications but Microsoft still promises that it is now faster and no longer annoying.
