The text sharing editing feature is very popular as it is frequently requested by Twitter users. After becoming X, this editing feature is locked behind a subscription. After Meta launched Threads, in October last year – this editing feature was given for free and users had five minutes. Recently, the editing period has been extended.
Users can now make edits to text in Threads within 15 minutes of it being shared. Interestingly, after swallowing the three-dot menu – there is a timer displaying a 15-minute count. Then specifically for users of social media platforms under Fediverse, if you link your account with Threads – cross-platform sharing will only start showing after 15 minutes to wait for the final edits to be done.
In my testing, Threads on the web and Android already support this new feature while iOS is still waiting for an update to roll out.
