You Can Now Find Something By Recording Video Using Google Lens

Google now offers a variety of methods for users to search for things on the web. Everything is based on the Google Search search engine, but on smartphones the most interesting use is through Circle to Search. The basis of the technology of this method is Google Lens, and Google Lens has recently been upgraded with a search that I find interesting and unique.

Google Lens now lets you record short videos to perform searches. The first search result is a summary by Search Labs | AI Overview which is quite good at identifying objects, brands and categories. The following information is a typical Google search result with links to various websites. Interestingly with this method, when recording a video the user needs to mention once the question or search prom that they want to do. It's like a simplified version of the video search feature chatting with an AI chatbot.

This video search with Google Lens is clearly using Gemini as it is quick to provide quite helpful feedback. However, it is not certain if the performance of this feature will depend on the Google account that has a Google One AI Premium subscription. This feature is seen to have been gradually distributed to all users and is no longer limited to certain devices and platforms. In my review, Android and iOS devices were both ready to use this feature.
