YouTube is fighting ad blockers with more and more plugins and ad blocking software no longer being supported. Users will either be blocked directly from watching the video or the video will be delayed. This is to encourage people to subscribe to YouTube Premium, but recently paid customers have reported ads still appearing.
On Reddit, users complained that Google Workspace ads appeared on the home page of the YouTube app and Playables ads appeared on Shorts. Although it is an advertisement from Google itself, the terms and conditions of the YouTube Premium subscription make it clear that one of the benefits of subscribing is that none of the ads will be displayed either before or after watching the video. This is also subject to the interface of all YouTube platforms regardless of app, web and others.
For now, there is no solution and Google has reportedly started an investigation. In Malaysia, subscription prices start at RM12.90 for students, RM20.90 for individuals and RM41.90 for family plans.
