Do you feel that teleconference sessions are better replaced by text only because it is less time consuming? If so, Zoom will introduce an AI Companion feature that can be used as a substitute for attending teleconference sessions starting next year.
AI Companion requires their users to short video clips of a few seconds. Through artificial intelligence (AI) technology, a realistic avatar using real images can be generated by Zoom and it can perform presentations using the given text. AI Companion's speech amplification will also be synchronized with automatically generated audio.
According to Zoom, their built-in security system will ensure that this technology is not misused for fraudulent purposes. This is important because there have been cases of staff being tricked into giving money to people posing as employers in teleconferencing applications. The AI Companion feature will be offered starting in the second half of 2025 with an additional subscription fee of $12 (~RM 52) per month.
