Creating passwords for social media accounts or any online service is now quite difficult. This is because for the best security users should combine lowercase letters, uppercase letters, numbers, symbols and should have many characters. Even so, there are still people who ignore the importance of personal security when using simple passwords.
NordPass which is a password saving service under the same company as NordVPN shares that there are 3,018,050 people using 123456 as a password. Then there are 1,625,135 people using 123456789 and close to 700,000 people using the password. This data is for users from 44 countries and is collected from sources that are open to the public and also in the dark web without involving personal data or data purchases.
Malaysia is included in the list where there are 14,396 people using the password 123456 and 5,368 who use qwerty123. Regardless of creating a temporary or permanent account, if a platform asks for personal information for registration you MUST use a secure and hard-to-guess password. Also don't forget to memorize the password or keep the password in a safe place such as a note application that can be locked. Using a complicated password is annoying, but for the sake of personal safety and personal data, what's wrong with being annoying for a while?
Alternatively, if you don't want to use a paid password storage service, you can also use the ones offered by Google or Apple.
