70 Million Netflix Global Customers Subscribe to Plans With Built-In Ads



Netflix, the popular television series and movie streaming platform has just announced that 70 million of their customers subscribe to a plan with built-in ads in the countries where the plan is offered.


This figure is the number of paying subscribers each month, and shows a two-fold increase in subscriptions compared to six months ago, where Netflix customers all seem to want a more wallet-friendly plan, rather than being forced to pay more expensive subscriptions, even without ads.



In the United States, Netflix subscription plans with ads are seen as low as $6.99, roughly half of the Standard plan subscription currently set at $15.49. In the country, Netflix also said that in the locations where this plan was introduced, half of the new Netflix account registrations were seen subscribing to the advertised plan.


For the Malaysian market, we are introducing the addition of a mobile device plan at RM17 per month that allows customers to watch Netflix on one smart device at any time without ads. For now it looks like Netflix still won't offer an ad subscription plan for the local market.
