The Indonesian government has previously blocked the sale of iPhone smartphones in the country, due to Apple not meeting some of the requirements to sell in the market. Now, in addition to the iPhone, the Indonesian government is also seen to be blocking the sale of Google Pixel in the country.
This is due to Google still not meeting the requirements for devices sold in Indonesia to have 40% local content in terms of applications and so on. The Indonesian government is ready to set local regulations, where device manufacturers can choose to produce products in Indonesia, include application development in Indonesia, or focus on the creation of innovative products in Indonesia.
Today, Samsung and Xiaomi have local production facilities in Indonesia, along with various other manufacturers taking more or less the same steps to offer devices in Indonesia. This also indirectly supports the local economy in the country. Apple has previously established an academy in the country - but the investment value did not reach as Apple promised.
For now, it is not known whether Google will apply for sales licensing in Indonesia or vice versa since Google Pixel sales are not as high as other brand products in this Southeast Asian region.
