Netflix increased their subscription prices in Malaysia today with an average increase of around RM5 for each plan. For Astro users who subscribed to Netflix through the previously offered bundle, the new subscription price will only be charged from 1 March 2025 according to a Netxrift report.
New customers and customers who make additional purchases (add-ons) will be charged a new price starting November 21. Netflix's new subscription prices received negative reactions from users in Malaysia. Many hope that with the strengthening of the value of the Ringgit, the subscription should be cheaper.
Subscription prices in Malaysia now start at RM18.90 for the mobile plan and rise to RM62.90 for the Premium plan which supports 4K streaming and more devices can use it simultaneously.
This year we saw YouTube Premium and Disney+ Hotstar subscription prices increase. Max, which will replace HBO Go, also charges more for 4K quality subscriptions starting November 17.
