Electronic cigarettes or popularly known as vape only half a decade ago were seen as a safer alternative to smoking cigarettes. It is claimed that it does not cause negative effects on the lungs and does not cause addiction. But through more recent studies, we now know that vaping is just as dangerous as causing EVALI injuries.
Now the latest study by Professor Ajitha Thanabalasuriar from McGill University and Erika Penz from the University of Saskatchewan found that berry-flavored vapes are more harmful to the lungs than unflavored vapes. In a study conducted on laboratory mice, berry-flavored vapes disabled immune cells in the lungs.
These immune cells help grow to remove harmful particles. With its loss, the body is more susceptible to respiratory system infections. Unflavored vapes have not been found to have the same effect.
Scientists have now found a link between the use of berry-flavored vapes and a higher risk of infection. The content of berry-flavored vape that causes immune cell paralysis is still unknown and more research needs to be done. In other words if you are still stubborn to vape, it is safer to use unflavored vape liquid.
