CAAM : Passengers Prohibited From Using Smart Baggage "Scooters" On Airport Aprons

The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has now issued safety warnings and instructions, prohibiting users from using or riding luggage scooters as a mode of transport within the airport apron area. The airport apron area is a hard-surfaced area in the terminal, which often has a lot of heavy machinery, aircraft, ground service vehicles, and personnel who need to comply with safety regulations to avoid accidents or equipment damage.

This ban is only in the airport apron area. Users can still use luggage scooters in the waiting area and terminal square.

In addition to being prohibited from using in the apron area, smart luggage or luggage scooters must also be powered off, and battery components must be turned off when in the apron area.

CAAM also emphasized that although luggage scooters facilitate transportation, at the airport apron they can lead to security risks.
