Global smartphone shipments recorded a positive trend with an increase of 309.9 million units at a rate of 5% in Q3 2024. This is according to Canalys through the latest report uploaded on its official website. This surge is driven by continued consumer demand in the affordable segment, exciting new launches and innovative channel strategies.
Samsung reached another benchmark when it still topped the list of the top five manufacturers in shipments in Q3 2024 with a total of 57.5 million units equivalent to a 19% market share. Mainly involves strong growth in the range of entry-level devices. In addition, Samsung began to focus on longer software on the device. Meaning there is no more worry about the vulnerability of securities that can cause losses to the owner.
Apple was ranked second with 18% market share contributed by strong demand for the latest iPhone 16 range. However, it is important to note that geopolitical effects, and the delayed use of Apple Intelligence are expected to impact Apple's performance in Q4 2025.
Xiaomi (including sub-brand POCO) ranked third with a total of 42.8 million units and 14% market share. Oppo (including OnePlus) and Vivo also strengthened their position with each contributing a share of 9% of the market share, driven by an encouraging performance in the Asia Pacific region.
