Playdate is a portable console manufactured in a Malaysian factory. After several years it was sold in America, finally this year it can be bought in Malaysia. It is indeed a stylish console, but the selling price is expensive and not well known, no distributor in Malaysia is interested in selling it. Recently, Playdate announced another disappointing thing.
The Playdate Stereo Dock accessory that can turn this console into a desktop speaker and pen holder will not be sold anytime soon. In fact, the development has been stopped temporarily. The big issue is that Playdate has been tricked by a well-known Bluetooth speaker factory, where they use Bluetooth software and audio chips through other factories from other countries resulting in performance problems and audio quality that does not meet standards.
But after the problem was solved and the final prototype was released they realized that the development cost had caused the selling price to increase and it did not provide a truly satisfying user experience. Because of that the Playdate Stereo Dock will not be released and sold for the time being.
